Adam Smith: U.S. Representative, District C9
Congressman Adam Smith scored 100% on both the Sierra Club and League of Conservation Voters report cards. Smith voted against CAFTA, drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and expanded logging in Alaska's Tongass National Forest. He voted for environmental funding, coastal oil drilling protections, and higher fuel economy standards.
With Jim McDermott and 103 congressmen from around the nation, he signed the Blu-Petri Letter. This progressive letter urged the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to support measures to restore harvestable populations of wild salmon and steelhead in the Columbia and Snake River Basins, even to the extent of removing the four lower Snake River dams, if necessary.
Regarding energy, he strongly supports an increase in CAFE standards and promotion of improved technology for clean renewable energy. We strongly endorse Adam Smith for re-election to Congress.
