Timothy D. Leavitt: City Council #4, Vancouver

Tim Leavitt is a long-time resident of Clark County, and some of his fondest childhood memories of our community include enjoying summer camp at Leverich Park, provided by the Vancouver-Clark Parks. At summer camp, Tim learned about and gained an appreciation and respect for nature. Leverich Park is a unique urban park, with open fields, forested areas and Burnt Bridge Creek.
Both as a council member and planning commissioner, Tim has a record of active participation in environmental and development issues. Prior to becoming a council member, he served as a planning commissioner and spearheaded the development of a Critical Areas Ordinance to protect sensitive habitat, which several years later was adopted by the City Council. Tim also participated in the development of the residential infill ordinance, providing incentives for property owners to develop lots in the urban area where utilities and services are already present, thus minimizing extensive sprawl.
Professionally, Tim works as a civil/environmental engineer with a Pacific Northwest regional consultant firm, PBS Engineering + Environmental. His focus is to work with clients in designing projects that preserve, protect and enhance nearby natural resources. Tim firmly believes that sensitive habit such as forested and wetland areas can be true amenities to development. His experience includes many projects that have pursued and earned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Tim is presently pursuing a professional LEED accreditation.
