Adrienne Fraley-Monillas: City Council #5, Edmonds

Adrienne Fraley-Monillas grew up in Richmond Beach and spent her childhood riding horses and bicycles through the woods from Richmond Beach to Edmonds. Many streams ran through the area where Adrienne and her friends used to catch small fish, tadpoles, and frogs.
Now she sees housing developments and condominiums in Edmonds, all in the name of "progress." Old growth forests, small animals, and wetlands have been decimated by development.
Adrienne has taken a personal pledge to conserve resources at home and work, as well as in nature. She believes that each person needs to be accountable in taking the first steps to heal our environment.
Along with an energy savings package for her home, she has replaced all windows and appliances with energy efficient ones. She recycles and composts. At her workplace she manages a recycling program that has reduced the garbage bill by 75% over the past year alone.
In line with the Sierra Club’s legislative position, she favors the public transit system portion of the RTID package rather than further road expansion projects. People who have worked with Adrienne for many years on the Washington Labor Council, in her legislative district, in her church, in Special Olympics programs and events, and other activities know that Adrienne always "walks her talk." For these reasons, the Sierra Club endorses Adrienne Fraley-Monillas.
