I-960: Vote NO (State Initiative)

I-960 is Tim Eyman's latest irresponsible anti-tax initiative.  It short-circuits representative government by requiring a two-thirds vote in each house of the Legislature – and in many cases an additional statewide advisory vote – on increases in taxes and fees (broadly defined), including those to fund investments in vital education, health care, transportation and programs for public safety, the elderly and the environment.

Eyman’s initiative will likely cost government substantial amounts of money, create opportunities for legal challenges to even the most basic budgetary provisions and have a chilling effect on increasing revenue for essential services – even increases needed just to keep pace with inflation.
