Lucy Krakowiak: City Council, Burien

On the Burien City Council, Lucy Krakowiak is actively addressing environmental protection. She has been working on eradicating invasive plant species, re-establishing natives (both at the policy level and in the field), preserving a mature stand of Douglas Firs with native understory in Dottie Harper Park, restoring the Seahurst shoreline, and ensuring an avenue of education by supporting and working with the Environmental Science Center.

Ms. Krakowiak is also working with the council to integrate Low Impact Drainage into Burien’s surface water management program and increasing mass transit and alternative modes of transportation, including walking and biking with the Bike and Pedestrian Plan.

It is imperative that the environmental stewardship the city is currently engaged in continues to expand. During Lucy’s next term she will continue working towards preservation of more native habitat, education, sustainable building practices, better surface water management, and alternative transportation solutions.

Lucy says, “The environment is an invaluable resource that needs protecting through policy and education.” She’s earned our support.
