Stan Snapp: City Council #4, Bellingham

Stan Snapp (http://snappforcouncil.com/) was Bellingham's Fire Chief for 20 years and knows how Bellingham City government works. While he has a good perspective on Lake Whatcom, recognizing the need for retrofits and regulations governing existing development, he outshines any other city council candidates on cleanup of the Bellingham Waterfront. He wants a stronger role for Bellingham in the cleanup because he sees that the Port of Bellingham is not adequately representing the citizens' desire to have the waterfront completely cleaned up. He proposes to inject City authority into the waterfront cleanup, in order to ensure that the waterfront is cleaned up to a high standard, by renegotiating the inter-local agreement between the City and Port of Bellingham. He wants a waterfront plan approved by the City (and public) before any more City investments are made in the cleanup. We need someone with this understanding of the process, and this level of commitment to ensure that the cleanup is done right.
