Gael Tarleton Port of Seattle: County Port Commission, King County

Gael Tarleton has a history of working toward solutions to global warming and other environmental issues. During the 1990s, Tarleton reported to Al Gore’s commission on global climate change and environmental security. She worked on EPA air and water quality emission standards internationally, and supported some of the U.S. Government’s first programs in environmental security. At the University of Washington, Gael Tarleton raised money for research initiatives on environmental sustainability, and for over twenty years she has supported environmental organizations such as Sierra Club, Earth Justice, Environmental Defense, American Rivers, and the Center for Environmental Law and Policy.

Tarleton believes that the Port must take the lead in cleaning up Puget Sound as part of the Puget Sound Partnership initiative just passed by the Washington State legislature. She understands that the Port needs to reduce carbon emissions from container ships, cruise ships and airplanes, and control dumping in Puget Sound.

This election year, we have an opportunity to see a change in the direction at the Port of Seattle. That's why we have endorsed Gael Tarleton for Port Commission. The incumbent in this race has been a vehicle for the status quo. Vote for change, vote for Gael Tarleton.
