Backpack - OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK

This is a moderate 20-27 mile 3,200 ft minimum elevation gain backpack and camping outing, leaving Thursday night. Ancient forest, mountain scenery and hungry bears come together to make a gentle adventure for hikers visiting the Staircase area of Olympic National Park. This easygoing backpack is contingent upon conditions and road reopenings. Trail possibilities include Flapjack Lakes or Home Sweet Home. These are both out-and-back routes starting along the North Fork of the Skokomish River and will feature two nights of basecamping with a day of alpine exploration. Requires previous backpacking experience and current conditioning. Participation limited to six, pre-registration required by June 28.
