Heybrook Fire Lookout Hike ~ Index Area

 For history and conservation enthusiasts, here is an opportunity to go to Heybrook Fire Lookout. Fall colors will be coming in, presenting a different view of the high country. A short, steep but sweet hike will get our heartbeat going!  Old growth forest and views of Mt. Index and the Reiter Foothills. 

3.3 miles round trip, 950 foot elevation gain to the lookout. Bring water & lunch, wear good hiking footwear (rocky trail) and trekking poles. Dress for cold weather, and possible rain. Meeting locations: Mount Vernon train station @ 9:30 am and Monroe 10:30 am before climbing Stevens Pass. Leader is coming from north of Bellingham so will not arrange carpools out of Seattle, but will put you in touch with others who want to carpool. Contact Terese to sign up and for more information: 253-334-2157 or terrasolutions@hotmail.com .
