Marko Liias (D): State Representative #2, District 21
While on the Mukilteo City Council 2006-08, Marko Liias worked to secure $1M in funds for parks and open spaces. Representative Liias was appointed to the House of Representatives in 2008, and serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Audit Review; Education; Housing; State Government and Tribal Affairs Committees.
He was the prime sponsor of the Green Home Weatherization Bill for energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly methods and materials for use in state housing for seniors and low-income families. Liias has co-sponsored legislation to ensure funding for the timely maintenance of public infrastructure, and restoration of creek habitat. He considers global warming the most critical environmental issue that must be tackled here and now with smart, comprehensive policies. He has an excellent environmental voting record.
