Kevin Ranker (D): State Senator, District 40
Kevin Ranker is a strong advocate for environmental issues in his current position as a San Juan County Commissioner. His primary issue is the cleanup of Puget Sound, which he supports with his work on Ecosystem Coordination Board of the Puget Sound Partnership and with an ecosystem-based management pilot project (the San Juan Initiative) in San Juan County. He understands the regulatory and other government functions that are necessary to get Puget Sound cleaned up, and to recover endangered salmon populations.
His environmental efforts include serving on the Board of Washington Environmental Council (past), national board member of the Surfrider Foundation, he is a member of the Washington State Shorelines Hearings Board, chair of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council, and member of the Washington State Oil Spill Advisory Council.
On transportation policy, he wants to create better links between various transportation modes throughout Puget Sound. He sees the importance of taking into account global warming and reduction in carbon emissions when developing transportation and other planning.
The Sierra Club endorsement is very important to him, and he wants to work as an environmental champion with us. Visit his website at http://kevinranker.com.
