Hike - SILVERSTAR MOUNTAIN - SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON

Saturday, July 12th, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Meet at Gateway Transit Center located at 9900 NE Multonomah in Portland. Map? This is a moderate-strenuous 8.7 mile 2,100 ft. elevation gain hike. You''ll see vibrant meadows of beargrass, lupine and Indian paintbrush which give new life to the high ridges of a vast burn area in Southwest Washington. A sweeping panoramic view from atop Silver Star Mountain takes in the Columbia River and neighboring Cascade peaks. This northern approach offers more scenery and is less steep than the Tarbell trail from the south. The last 3 miles to the trailhead are severly rutted, so a high clearance vehicle is recommended. Bring water & lunch and dress for the weather. Participation limIted, Preregistration required. This outing is open to the public. For more information, contact Jennifer Snarski at (503) 231-0507 or by email.
