Oyster Creek - Blanchard Mountain Spring Hike (near Bellingham)

Sunday, March 23rd, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mar 23rd 2014

Join us for a spring warm-up hike with the Mt. Baker Group. Shake the winter blahs out of your bones and trek with us through the Oyster Creek drainage. This hike on the Chuckanut side of Blanchard Mountain does not disappoint even when soggy! Spectacular views of the San Juan Islands from Blanchard Mountain's Oyster Dome. Total hike length is 7 miles RT. One section of the trail gains 1120 Ft. in 1.5 miles and can be muddy and slippery. The Mt. Baker Group and Friends of Blanchard have fought to preserve the old-growth forest on these DNR lands. Wear good footwear and bring water, lunch, cameras and binoculars, and dress for the weather (bring rain jacket.) Trekking poles are helpful. Meet in Fairhaven, the southend Bellingham. This outing is open to the public. Optional dinner in Edison after hike. For trip details and to sign up,please contact Terese VanAssche at terrasolutions@hotmail.com or 253-334-2157.(MB/ CH)
