Rick Larsen (D): U.S. Representative, District C2
Rick Larsen has held the 2nd Congressional District Representative seat for four terms. He has established himself as a strong environmental player with his work on and passage of the Wild Skykomish Wilderness legislation. This huge effort has garnered Sierra Club support for his campaign. He continues to work on wild lands protection by opposing opening oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and supporting the continuation of the moratorium on oil and gas drilling on the Outer Continental Shelf.
Larson supports our priorities for reducing carbon emissions. He wants carbon reductions enforced in order to achieve real and sustained change. With that perspective, he voted for the 2007 Safe Climate Act and the Energy Dependence and Security Act. Also, he supports federal investment in, and development of, clean energy technology. He voted for the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008—expanding tax incentives for the use of renewable electricity, energy, and fuel; hybrid cars; and energy efficient homes, buildings and appliances. We hope to see Larsen reelected and to continue working with him on the issues important to the Sierra Club.
