Rob Holland: County Port Commission #3, King County

Rob Holland will bring a lifetime of hands-on experience to the Port of Seattle Commission, through his work as a marine transportation specialist and former Port of Tacoma employee. Holland, who has also done policy work on conservation easements and salmon habitat on farmland, will be an advocate for environmental protection.

As Commissioner, he intends to help the Port become “the greenest, cleanest, most energy efficient port in the country.” Holland’s top priorities include promoting stronger ties with the Puget Sound Partnership, taking real responsibility for Elliott Bay restoration, and ensuring that the Port will exceed targets for reducing carbon emissions. He has laid out the Holland Green Jobs Plan, which calls for emissions reduction, coast and waterway cleanup, and retrofitting of port facilities as a means to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the port while creating thousands of good jobs and increasing our competitive edge relative to other west coast ports. He also intends to increase highway efficiency for freight haulers, and will argue for variable tolling and congestion pricing on King County highways.

Rob Holland has demonstrated a clear vision for the future of the Port of Seattle and we are confident he will lead on environmental issues.
