Marilyn Strickland: Mayor, Tacoma

Tacoma Council Member Marilyn Strickland is a dynamic and charismatic personality who is quite popular with the progressive community. She takes great pride in her mixed-ethnic heritage and has worked hard on social justice issues. She has an exciting vision for Tacoma’s future and a commitment to promoting public transit and street restoration, including bike/pedestrian infrastructure, to connect communities across the City. She is willing to listen and learn. Her knowledge and support of the environment has substantially increased, since her successful Council race win two years ago, with mentoring by Jake Fey, our City Council champion. She has an excellent campaign organization and plan and is a tireless worker and campaigner. Ms. Strickland, as mayor, will provide strong leadership to get things done, while balancing economic development with the needs of the environment.
