Jake Fey: City Council #2, Tacoma

During his first term on the Tacoma City Council Jake Fey has demonstrated he is truly an environmental champion. He is now seeking re-election to Council Position #2 and is unopposed. Mr. Fey has years of experience in the field of energy issues and conservation from serving as a staffer with the State energy office, being on the Tacoma Public Utilities Board, serving on Governor Gregoire’s Climate Action Team, and working currently with WSU as Energy Program Director.

His biggest accomplishment in his current term on the Council was guiding and advising Tacoma’s Green Ribbon Task Force on Climate Change to come up with scores of recommendations on what the City should do to reduce its carbon foot-print and exceed the goals of the Kyoto Protocol. He successfully pushed the Council to support and implement the establishment of the City’s Office of Sustainability and the Sustainable Tacoma Commission, a citizens’ oversight body to keep the City on target to meeting its sustainability goals. His re-election is essential to assure Tacoma has a true environmental champion on the Council.
