Javier Figueroa: City Council #1, University Place

Javier Figueroa, is running for University Place City Council Position #1. He is a long time resident who works as financial consultant for real estate development. He will work for more balanced land-use and zoning rules and policies to help preserve and protect wetlands and park areas of the city. He has served as a University Place Parks Commissioner and wants to promote gardens throughout the city with the help of Master Gardeners.

He understands the concept of sustainability and wants to use that principle in his decision-making. University Place is in real financial jeopardy and Mr. Figueroa will work hard using with his experience, skills, and abilities to bring the city back into fiscal solvency. He wants to hold city staff accountable and wants to promote more transparency in council business. Furthermore, he would work to accommodate more public input to the council than exists today. Mr. Figueroa would bring a welcome, responsible, and competent new face to the University Place City Council.
