Max Mania: City Council #2, Port Angeles

We support Max Mania for Port Angeles City Council Position 2. Max has a quick mind, boundless energy, quickly grasps issues, and displays vision on how to approach issues sustainably for the long term.
Max's background and board work in Port Angeles is primarily with the art community, but he grew up with environmental-economic issues, watching his mother's environmental work in Ashland OR, and upholding environmental ethics from then on. He is a candidate that walks his talk—he is vegan and does not drive—because he understands the impact every day decisions make on the environment and public health. He has also donated campaign funds in excess of his campaign needs to local charities.
Even though he was a political unknown in a four way primary race, Max won 38% of the vote against a much better known and heavily financed opponent who received 40%.
Max will be a catalyst for community discussion on growth as it relates to environmental issues. Specific items he initially intends to work on in his first term include advocating for, and embracing renewable energy sources; addressing the city’s combined sewer overflow (CSO) issues by advocating for the latest, most ecological technologies possible; implementing an urban forestry program in Port Angeles; and holding Rayonier, Inc. responsible for paying for and thoroughly cleaning up its hazardous wastes.
