Kristine Lytton: State Representative #1, District 40
A resident of Anacortes, she is a member of “Beat the Heat”, a local group committed to addressing and reducing climate change impacts. Her other priority issue is education, which she believes is an important avenue to awareness by educating kids about values and issues in environmental conservation. She’s worked on beach cleanups and raised funds to build the Tommy Thompson walking trail in Anacortes.
Her positions align with Sierra Club on many of our important issues: she supported the Clean Water Bill, endorses a gas tax, opposes cap and trade, wants to see more green energy in schools, and more renewable energy overall in Washington. Her community organization works around people and not cars.
Kris currently serves as the president of the Anacortes Board of education. She’s gathered a significant number of endorsements, including the UFCW Local 141 (United Staff Nurses Union), Washington Education Association SEIU Local 925 and 1948, the Washington Education Association, Amalgamated Transit Union 843 COPE Committee, National Women's Political Caucus and the People for Safe & Healthy Communities. You can visit the candidate's Web site at http://www.krislytton.com/we-need-kris.html
