Prop 1: Preserve Our Buses: Vote YES (Clark County Proposition)
Posted on October 13, 2011 - 1:13pm
Prop 1 will preserve existing bus routes for the citizens who are dependent on C-TRAN. The measure will also reduce greenhouse gases by providing citizens an alternative to the automobile. The measure will add an additional 0.2% (two-tenths of one percent) to our sales tax, or two pennies on a ten dollar taxable purchase. The need for additional revenue is primarily due to a long term transit funding problem in Washington, and has been exacerbated by population growth, poor economic conditions, and increased costs of caring for an aging population. If Prop. 1 fails, C-TRAN faces a 35% cut to services – the equivalent of taking nearly two of every five buses out of services.
