Jake Fey: State Representative #2, District 27
Posted on May 9, 2012 - 6:40pm
Jake Fey has most recently been serving on the Tacoma City Council for the last six years where he has distinguished himself as not only a leader on environmental/sustainability issues, but also as a critical budgetary watchdog. He, along with former Mayor Baarsma, were the city elected officials who led the movement to establish the Green Green Task Force on Climate Change, which recommended the adoption of a Climate Action Plan with aggressive greenhouse gas emission reduction goals and some 80 plus specific strategies to achieve these goals. Two major strategies, establishment of the Office of Sustainability and the Sustainable Tacoma Commission (a citizens watchdog & advisory commission), were adopted by Tacoma shortly after the City adopted the Climate Action Plan in 2008. The City has already exceeded its 2012 carbon emission reduction goal and saved the City over $750,000. Mr. Fey has broad support from the labor, business, and environmental communities. His environmental/energy and transportation expertise and leadership on the City Council make him the clear choice to represent the 27th LD (most of Tacoma) in this position of State House of Representatives.
