Laurie Jinkins: State Representative #1, District 27
Posted on July 2, 2012 - 10:35am
The incumbent Rep. Laurie Jinkins is a progressive elected to the House in 2010. She is a non-practicing attorney who has been the Deputy Director of the Tacoma-Pierce Co. Health Deptartment for several years. She is an activist for human and women’s rights. Though the Sierra Club endorsed her opposition in the last election, Jinkins was also considered to be an excellent candidate for the position, which she ended up winning. She is bright, articulate, a quick learner and concerned about environmental issues, particularly those that have an effect on human health. Her Washington Conservation Voters environmental voting record for her first term in the State House has been stellar, 100%. The re-election of Jinkins, an emerging environmental champion, is a must.
