Peter Goldmark: Public Lands Commission
The Cascade Chapter strongly endorses Peter Goldmark for a second term as Commissioner of Public lands. Peter Goldmark’s first term was full of accomplishments, including the development of aquatic reserves in the Puget Sound and prevention of the expansion of the Maury Island gravel mining operation. Peter also created the Puget Sound Corps to help restore the sound.
On forested lands, Goldmark embarked on a process for developing management plans for state forests. The process has halted significant damage from off-road vehicles and expanded non-motorized recreational opportunities in the Interstate 90 and Stevens Pass area. Peter Goldmark’s impact on aquatic and state forest lands has been significant and the processes he has put in place will further guarantee greater protection to our state resources.
