Posted by Terese VanAssche
Thursday, November 29th, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Nov 29th 2012We are ground zero up here in Whatcom County where the Cherry Point coal export terminal is proposed. The terminal is only 5 miles west of Ferndale. Substantial support has been expressed for the coal terminal by Ferndale's mayor and our 42nd District legislators. Thursday, November 29, 2012: 3 pm to 7 pm. Come early for the rally at 1:30 pm!! Ferndale Events Center, 5715 Barrett Road, Ferndale, Washington 98248 There will be 75 speaking slots available, so be early to sign up. We will gather at 1:30 pm to set up opposition signs and to rally!! Easy to find: Take I-5 to exit 262, Main St./ Axton Rd. At end of ramp turn left, and go to the next street to the left, Barrett Rd. Turn left and there you are. This is across from the Denny's and McDonalds. Plenty of parking for everyone! You can testify at the hearing or simply attend to bear witness. Join your friends and neighbors in standing up for the health of our families, communities, and all creation. NO COAL EXPORT! We need to make a show of opposition to the terminal especially here in Ferndale. We would like to see 1,000 people show up in Ferndale to support the locals who are going to suffer from the construction of this terminal. Our main fire station in downtown Ferndale will be blocked by the excessive trains every day, risking our downtown infrastructure and businesses, as well as residents.
