Bernard Talmas: City Council #7, Woodinville
Posted on September 29, 2013 - 11:47am
Bernie Talmas led the successful land use case Phoenix v. Woodinville, decided by the state Supreme Court in 2011. It gave Washington cities the right to enforce their land use planning and zoning regulations over private interests. He has consistently worked to preserve farmland in the Sammamish Valley, supporting the Downtown Plan to develop high-density housing and a more walkable commercial area in the aging downtown. His involvement on regional boards makes him a valuable ally to the Sierra Club on transportation and land use issues. He supports the Sierra Club's Coal Free PSE campaign. He has also been endorsed by Washington Conservation Voters, both the Democratic and Republican Parties, Dow Constantine, and Woodinville neighborhood groups.
