Dow Constantine: County Executive, King County
Dow Constantine has led the environmental agenda for King County for the past 25 years. In 2010, his first year in office as King County Executive, he helped obtain a $44 million federal allocation for Howard Hanson Dam repairs that reduced the threat of Green River Valley flooding, assembled a coalition of governments to fund the construction of a new South Park Bridge, and joined with the state to finance the County's purchase of a Maury Island gravel mine, thereby preserving a mile of irreplaceable natural Puget Sound shoreline.
This year, Executive Constantine championed a renewal of the King County Parks Levy supporting King County’s 200 parks, 175 miles of regional trails, and 26,000 acres of open space. Executive Constantine continues to work with the state legislature and the King County Council to obtain vital funding for mass transit. http://dowconstantine.com/
