Soos Creek Park Restoration Event (Kent)
Sierra Club South King County Group and Rainier Audubon Society, in coordination with King County Parks, will be hosting a large habitat restoration event at Soos Creek Park. To reach the work site, just walk a few hundred yards on the trail south of the 208th Street parking lot.
The project’s purpose is to enhance an area around 2 ponds and adjacent to the creek. The area has been significantly infested for years with invasive non-native plants such as blackberries and scotch broom. At this event, we’ll be cutting and digging out blackberries from the areas we’ve restored at the site over the last 2 years.
In order to succeed, we’ll need a good turn-out of volunteers. So please save the date – March 15th for Soos Creek Park. You’ll need to sign a couple of liability release forms when you arrive. Tools, drinks, and snacks will be provided, but please bring your own work gloves (we’ll have some on hand if you don’t have them) and dress for the work and weather as this is a rain-or-shine event. For more information, please contact Mark Johnston. (SKCG)
