Naches Peak Loop (Pierce Co Group)

Thursday, September 25th, 8:15 am - 5:00 pm, Sep 25th 2014

One of my favorite fall hikes, the Naches Peak Loop is accessed from Chinook Pass on Highway 410 and circles Naches Peak. It's a fairly easy hike -- you start high and stay high. About 4.5 miles. elevation gain 600 feet.

The hike begins on the Pacific Crest Tail and enters MRNP about half way around the loop. The views of Dewey Lake and Mt. Rainier are glorious and sometimes you can hear elk bugling,

Dress for the weather (Don't skimp; put that jacket, gloves and stocking hat in your pack.). It's usually chilly in Sept. Wear boots or sturdy shoes, not sandals; bring lunch, sun protection and water.

Our carpool will leave Puyallup at 8:30 AM and should be back by 5:00 PM.

Northwest Forest Pass is required for each car. Be prepared to chip in for gas.

Contact dorothyw@centurylink.net or 253.265.6059 for more info and to sign up. Let me know if you are willing to be a driver. The road is paved all the way.
