Sam Hunt: State Representative #2, District 22
Posted on July 10, 2006 - 9:21pm
Rep. Hunt is one of the legislature's environmental leaders. Named a 2006 Washington Conservation Voters' Environmental Champion, Sam led this year's successful effort to address failing septic systems in the 12 counties bordering Puget Sound. He worked with legislators and Gov. Gregoire to develop a $6.5 million loan program to help homeowners with septic system repair costs. He was also a prime sponsor of 2003's landmark Mercury Reduction Act. Sam will continue to work to protect remaining old-growth timber on state-owned lands. As a member of the House Natural Resources, Ecology, and Parks Committee, Rep. Hunt plays a vital role in crafting many environmental bills early in the process. Sam serves as House Majority Floor Leader and is a board member of The Nature Conservancy, Washington.
